What People Say
Most Liked
The Union Diner gains high praise for its exceptional food quality and heartwarming service. Diners rave about the eggs Benedict, often considered a must-try; the poached eggs are cooked to perfection and served atop tasty English muffins with a rich hollandaise sauce. Many also appreciate the generous portions of comfort food, like the hearty corned beef hash and delicious homemade sourdough toast.
For those who enjoy their brunch beverages, the varied cocktail selection, especially the Union's classic Bloody Mary, is a favorite. Many patrons note that the coffee is bold and flavorful, always freshly brewed, reflecting the diner's commitment to quality. The friendly, cheerful staff creates a welcoming environment that keeps the experience enjoyable from start to finish. Plus, occasional acts of kindness, like a stranger covering someone's meal, add to the warm community feel.
Most Disliked
Despite the predominantly positive experiences, some guests mention longer wait times during peak hours, particularly on busy Saturdays at 10 AM. Reservations are accepted, but a lot of newcomers may not realize this, leading to crowded waits. A few diners have noted that during rush periods, the diner can feel noisy, which might detract from the otherwise cozy atmosphere.
There are whispers from some patrons regarding limited menu options for specific dietary needs. While there's an impressive selection of dishes, those seeking gluten-free or vegan options may find they have fewer choices. These minor setbacks rarely overshadow the overwhelmingly positive feedback, but it's helpful to be aware of them beforehand.

Perfect poached eggs and yummy bacon. Having been a breakfast waitress on and off for over 40 years - I can assure you, this is the place to start your morning! My server, Maryann, was a delight! Stop in and get some good food!

Yum! We're so spoiled to have Union right down the road from our Meredith home. We need to take advantage of this amazing place more than we do, a comfort food establishment. Servers are always cheerful and you'll never have an empty coffee cup! Food is amazing, my loaded omelet even had a little corned beef hash mixed in, delicious! Union Diner and Windmill Diner (Concord), hands down the two best kept secret breakfast spots in all of NH!

Well this was the second day in a row I had breakfast here. I love the real old diner feel. Day one I got eggs Benedict. It was delicious and huge! I had hash browns for my side. Today I had the eggs Lorraine and loved it as well. Again hash browns and home made sourdough toast. The best part of today's visit was that when the waitress cleared our plates she said have a nice day, your bill has been paid. It wound up being that man next to us at the counter. He knew I had cancer and said he lost his wife to cancer years ago. I was touched by his Jester and kind words. I got teary eyes because it makes you realize there are nice people who really care. An event like this reminds me that there is so much kindness in this world. I will be paying this gesture forward. Go to this diner, it's great food and very nice staff and customers too!

I absolutely love this place , the owner is always working so hard and great to her employees. My food is always top tier, as I always get it to go and it’s just as good , great on the phone and they make it super fast. Absolutely love the amazing costumer service, you can tell the owners are loved because they have so many little gifts on display from costumer’s and that’s hard to find in this day and age. I always give my money to this place just in costumer service and the great food is the cherry on top. Just wanted to acknowledge the hard work. Keep being rockstars ❤️❤️😁

I really enjoy this diner. We have visited many times, and every experience was identical. People are very friendly here. There were a lot of regulars here who obviously enjoy it! What I noticed most was the banter between waitresses and customers. You feel comfortably welcomed and certainly looked out for. There was a younger boy working there who was so polite I had to mention it. The no frills atmosphere is fine, mostly a rock music theme with framed concert tickets and posters. The staff is wonderful. There are two sections to sit in,the original “Diner”part with booths and bar, and another section that has tables and booths. When you are in Laconia NH and want a quick meal and plenty of smiles, give it a try.
